SONG REVIEW || 7.18.2026

tool - "bottom" | 10/10
album: "undertow" | duration: 7:14 | released 4/16/1993
okay holy CRAP listening to this song for the first time was an insane experience. i'll always be a sucker for monologues in the middle of songs, but the way tool uses the monologue from 3:14 to 4:34 as a build-up, just to layer maynard's vocals over it for the breakdown is such FUCKING ear candy. and the guitar from 5:04 to 5:39 genuinely rattles my brain in the best way possible--the tone is so incredibly nasty, and that combined with the strength of maynard's vocals makes it hard for me not to completely focus on this song whenever it's playing (as per usual with any tool song). please for the love of god give this song a listen if you haven't already
